"Congo Basin Ecosystems: a source of natural capital, producer of economic value and driver of green growth for the well being of its people"

The US Facilitation is collaborating closely with the Government Cameroon to organize the 15th Meeting of Partners (MOP) of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP), which will take place in Yaoundé (Cameroon) from June 17 to 19, 2015. The meeting will provide a setting not only for reviewing and analyzing key issues as well as sharing ways to deal with them, but also for creativity and innovation on the part of all regional and international partners. It offers Congo Basin partners across all sectors a crucial opportunity to come together, share their expertise and experiences, and envision the future together. It will equally provide the stage for the announcement of the next Facilitation, the CBFP’s managing body.

The MOP 15 entitled "Congo Basin Ecosystems: a source of natural capital, producer of economic value and driver of green growth for the well being of its people " is being organized with financial support from the Governments of Norway, the United States, Germany, France and with technical support from IUCN. It will be co-chaired by His Excellency Jean Claude Nduwayo, Minister of Water Resources, Environment, Urban and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Burundi, current Chairman of COMIFAC, His Excellency Mr. Philip Ngole Ngwese, Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, His Excellency Mr Pierre Hélé, Minister of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Cameroon. The meeting will be graced by the effective presence of the Ambassadors of former CBFP Facilitator countries and the European Union: His Excellency Dr. Klaus-Ludwig Keferstein,  Ambassador of Germany; His Excellency Jean Pierre Lavoie, High Commissioner of Canada to Cameroon;  His Excellency Mr Micheal Hoza, Ambassador of the United States, Her Excellency Mrs. Christine Robichon, Ambassador of France, Her Excellency Mrs Françoise Collet, Ambassador and Head of European Union Delegation.

Since this will be the last Meeting of Partners (MOP) of CBFP under US Facilitation, the organizers are calling for wide participation of CBFP partners and supporters from all sectors and particularly minorities, women, youth and the private sector. The Conference will play a pivotal role in defining policy, priority action areas and setting an implementation roadmap for current pressing issues.
